Sippel Brothers Auto (4811 Longshore Ave) is the latest Tacony business to take advantage of the Business Security Camera Program in collaboration with the Tacony CDC. New security cameras will be installed on the exterior of the building, and the City of Philadelphia will provide a partial reimbursement.

The Business Security Camera Program seeks to encourage Philadelphia businesses and commercial property owners to install surveillance cameras, making businesses safer for shoppers and the community while growing their vitality and economic performance. The program reimburses up to 50% of the total cost of eligible improvements. The maximum award for a single commercial property is $3,000. Cameras must be installed on the outside of buildings, providing surveillance for both the business and the public space. The Tacony CDC assists business owners who want to take advantage of this program by providing contractor contacts and support.

This is another way local business owners, the Tacony CDC, and the City of Philadelphia are working to improve the safety, vitality and economic performance of Tacony's commercial corridor. Other neighborhood businesses are also currently under review for the Business Security Camera Program.
