Summer is winding down and we’re getting ready for 2025’s Fall for Tacony! Get excited for this year's Fall family fun events and mark your calendars for everything we have coming up! Here’s what’s coming up in September with more events to come in October.
Starting off strong with September’s First Friday, come celebrate the new art banners along Torresdale Ave at the Tacony LAB Community Art Center and enjoy refreshments, community, and meaningful neighborhood artwork made by artist, Ayiana Viviana.
Every Sunday in September head over to Thunder Mug Café from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. for your morning yoga, led by Selena Washington. The fee for each session is $15 if you pay ahead of time, or $20 if you pay at the door, the fee also includes a latte or a pastry. Register here. Don’t forget to bring your own mat!
We’re so excited for the Second Annual Tacony Neighborhood Yard Sale happening September 13th and 14th! Thank you to the Tacony Civic Association for all the hard work you have put into making this happen. We’re proud to be partnering with the Civic and supporting the Yard Sale for the second year in a row! Keep an eye out for special business promotions during this weekend as well.
PARK(ing) Day is up next on September 19th, with lots to choose from. We’re thrilled to be hosting two locations this year, one at Thunder Mug Café (6940 Torresdale Ave) and the other at the Tacony LAB (6918 Torresdale Ave)! You can join us and the Tacony Gardening Club for the plant and gardening supplies swap, live music, free refreshments, and lounge space at Thunder Mug for a chill vibe. The LAB will also have lounging space and refreshments as well as children’s games with many art activities. In-between both locations you can learn more about Vision Zero from our Tacony Representative Georgeanne at Marie Huff Hairdressing.
Hang out with us at Tacony Library on September 23rd for our Spooky Movie Night! Enjoy a screening of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark with friends and family and complimentary refreshments. Bring a blanket to sit on, we’ll provide the chairs!
The Tacony LAB is back with Scarecrow Making on September 29th, join them for this crafting session to make the perfect decoration for the Halloween season! After the session, enter your scarecrow into a competition (judged by the people of Tacony!) for a chance to win a $20 gift card at the October First Friday event!
More events are coming this October! You can prepare for Fall for Tacony now by sharing these events with friends, family, and neighbors! Last but not least, get ready for this year’s Halloween Festival taking place on October 25th. TCDC is partnering with the Tacony Library, the Tacony LAB and the Tacony Civic Association to put together an epic day of family friendly Halloween events. Join us at the Tacony Library from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. for family friendly events including children’s and adult’s costume contests, a live Halloween band, arts activities, and more!
